Janet Grieve, a.k.a. Nelly, was the founder of Naemoor (later Lendrick Muir).

She was married to John, and they had an adopted daughter who spent time at the school.

Mrs Grieve introduced the Scripture Union to the morning assembly 'thing' around 1960.

Janet Grieve was one of the pioneers of special education in Scotland and UK. Maurice Bridgeland's book, Pioneer Work with Maladjusted Children: A Study of the Development of Therapeutic Education, outlines her pioneering work.
